About

I am a photographic artist working in the North of the UK. Most of my life has been spent in rural Derbyshire, which began my connection with landscape and nature.

The work explores the common experience and interaction with natural space and the psychology of how we can move between a perception of it as other or unknowable and a familiar and restorative entity in our lives. I ultimately consider both nature and photography sandboxes for broad creative experimentation and inquiry.

My practice has been informed by the wide ranging representation of the natural scene in the medium – from the pioneering British and American survey photographers, through the romantic tradition, to critical contemporary work dealing with the growing complexities of our relationship with nature and the land.
